There is no stipulated time within which the participants should fill out the survey. The participants fill out the surveys at their own convenience.

Marketing companies prefer this mode of survey since they can reach a diverse pool of the population to give their opinions. The internet does not hold constrains to research with regards to geographic location, gender, race, age among a number of other research factors. The work at home /paid surveys enable marketers to get nearly conclusive research results since their sample population is wider and highly representative of the entire population as opposed to sampling a small select group of people who are thought to be representative of the entire population. Since they require the participant to write down their thoughts, they are usually comprehensive and detailed thoughts as opposed to an interview method where the answers given are usually vague.
