A multi-level examination of frontline interdepartmental integration. $49.99 The purpose of this dissertation is to examine interdepartmental integration between frontline departments using multilevel theory. This dissertation makes contributions in five major areas: (1) identifying the multilevel theoretical characteristics of each conceptualization of interdepartmental integration, (2) clarifying how integrating mechanisms influence interdepartmental relationship effectiveness between frontline departments, (3) applying a multilevel theoretical framework to expand and develop control theory, and (4) highlighting the importance of a frequently overlooked frontline department—service-coordinators—in the sales process, and (5) demonstrating the application of new multilevel methodology in marketing.;This dissertation follows the three paper format. The first paper is a conceptual paper which reviews multilevel theory and applies it to interdepartmental integration. The second paper expands control theory using multilevel theory to explain the relationship between salespeople and service-coordinators—frontline employees in charge of coordinating the logistical details of a sale. The third paper examines the relationships between each of the three conceptualizations of interdepartmental integration.;Hypotheses in paper 2 and paper 3 were tested using data collected from new car dealerships in a mid-western city from June 2007 to July 2007. The sampling frame consisted of dealerships who were members of a major regional automobile association. A total of 121 surveys were collected from salespeople and 58 from service-coordinators from a total of 20 dealerships. |

An analysis of sports media usage by adults. $49.99 The problem was an analysis of sports media usage of adult attendees of the Virtual Sports Employment Fair, March 18-19, 2009, online through the company, Expos2. It was determined this is the first time that virtual online technology was used to contact subjects for an academic study. Although the survey itself was disseminated via virtual marketing software, the initial and all subsequent interaction with the subjects was done completely online using Expos2 software. A two-page questionnaire of 40 questions was developed to determine what sports media adults use on a regular basis, with what frequency these are used and if there was a consideration of content and gender. A pilot study was conducted with 20 adults ages 18 and older to test the reliability and validity of the questionnaire. Changes were made to the survey based on the results of the pilot study and recommendations by a panel of experts. The subjects were volunteers who agreed to be part of the study for a small incentive. All the subjects were attendees of the Virtual Sports Employment Fair, held March 18-19, 2009. The survey was uploaded to a subscription-based virtual marketing company, Constant Contact, and the names of all the attendees of the Virtual Sports Employment Fair were entered into the e-mail database. An e-mail request to complete the survey was sent to all attendees of the Fair at least twice during the event and again the following weekend. Of the 162 attendees that registered, 123 had active accounts, and 40 voluntarily participated in the study. The data supplied from the 40 surveys was collected and entered into SPSS 15.0 analysis software. The researcher was unable to draw any statistically significant differences between the usage habits of older and younger adults, men and women and education levels.
